GLORY TO JESUS CHRIST! GLORY FOREVER!
St James Orthodox Church is a mission parish of the Orthodox Church in America (OCA). We are an English-language church consisting primarily of Americans, but also Russians, Ukrainians, Romanians, Greeks and other people groups, many of whom are converts to the Faith. We encourage visitors to "come and see" the Gospel of Jesus Christ as it is manifested in the ancient Orthodox Faith.
We are delighted that you have taken the time to visit St James Orthodox Church’s website, and we certainly hope you will find what you are looking for here! The Orthodox Faith is a bottomless treasure chest, only a small portion of which can be experienced online. We are committed to share with you the fullness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and to do so here in Beaufort, South Carolina.
St James is a mission parish under the Archpastoral direction of His Eminence, The Right Reverend ALEXANDER, Archbishop of Dallas and the Diocese of the South. The Orthodox Church in America is the autocephalous (self-governing) Orthodox Church on this continent, whose jurisdiction runs from Canada through Mexico under the omophor of His Beatitude, TIKHON, Archbishop of Washington and Metropolitan of All America and Canada.
The Orthodox Church is the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church professed in the Nicene Creed, which guards the “faith once for all delivered to the saints” (Jude 3). While such a statement can indeed be received as an arrogant one, we are the Church by grace, not by triumph or merit, and seek only to share the fullness of the Gospel with all who will hear it.
While reading will certainly help—one’s faith can always be deepened by searching the Scriptures and studying the writings of the faithful—we invite you to Come and See!
I am your servant in Christ,
Fr James Bozeman
Priest-in-Charge
